One Month Anniversary

Alexander has been in the states for 4 weeks or 1 month. He is blossoming and improving everyday. He is gaining weight (getting some baby fat), improving in his gross and fine motor skills, and his personality is coming out more everyday. Alex does not like baby food, and now only wants "people" food. Today he had his first taste of gumbo (and loved it!)

We want to thank everyone for the kind and encouraging words last week related to the 2 posts that we posted on our blog. If the post sounded defensive, that was not our intent. We never felt attacked, persecuted, or as victims. So, why did we respond? Why not just ignore the posts from that particular blog?

The answer is two-fold. First, we wanted to dialogue (as best you can with someone you've never met, using a blog as the medium) and explain why we've
deliberately chosen to give Alexander a new identity. Second (and probably most importantly), we will always take the opportunity to be apologists for adoption.

There is an attitude among many people that adoption is somehow wrong, or that adopted children are not real family members (A new horror movie -The orphan states, "you just can't love an adopted child as much as your own"), or that something is wrong or will be wrong with adopted children (Click here for the facts). So, this is why we wrote our two posts (see below).

We have been overwhelmed with the love and support that we have gotten from family, our Parkway family, our
AWAA friends, and our friends from all over the world. That you for your love and encouragement and most of all your prayers. I hope you will get involved in making a difference in the life of 1 of the 145 million orphans in the world!

Hey Jason,
Blessings on you guys...read through the articles and comments from Ethiopian Church blog. Don't quite understand and grasp their story...God's Word trumps heritage, we are called to take care of the widows and orphans. You guys are making an eternal difference in Alenxander's life...we pray to do the same for Ellie.

I have been following your blog for a little while now. This picture of Alexander is great. You can see how happy he is and that he is thriving; especially compared to the first pictures. May God continue to Bless Alexander and your family.
